Primary 7 Saddle Up for a ‘War Horse’ Adventure!
10th Apr 2026
Last week, our Primary 7 pupils enjoyed a truly memorable visit to Lauren O’Rourke’s horse riding stables. We were fortunate to have such a lovely day, which made the experience even more special for everyone involved.
As part of their class novel War Horse, the trip provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of the important role horses have played throughout history. The children were thrilled to have the chance to ride the horses themselves, an experience that many of them will remember for years to come.
Lauren and her mum, Sarah, shared their extensive knowledge with the group, explaining all about the care and responsibilities involved in looking after horses. The pupils learned about each piece of equipment used to saddle a horse and how it all fits together. They also discovered how to properly care for horses, including how their hooves are maintained and trimmed to keep them healthy.
One of the highlights of the morning was watching Lauren showcase her impressive horse jumping skills in the arena. The pupils were captivated as they saw the strong bond between horse and rider in action.
To finish off the visit, everyone enjoyed some lovely treats, giving them time to relax and reflect on such an exciting and educational experience.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Lauren and Sarah for such a wonderful morning. Their kindness, knowledge, and enthusiasm made the visit truly special for our Primary 7 class.
