Growing and Learning in P3/4

11th Jun 2026

Our P.3/4 class have been busy learning all about how plants and trees grow. As part of our learning, we planted grass seeds in our very own mini gardens.

The children worked hard to create their gardens, adding fences and little houses to make them special. We carefully watered our seeds and watched as the grass began to grow taller each day!

This week, it was time to take on a new role — gardeners!
The children used scissors to carefully “cut the grass,” just like in real life. We talked about why grass needs to be trimmed and how it will continue to grow again.

This activity helped us to:

  • Understand how plants grow and change
  • Learn how to care for living things
  • Practise our fine motor skills through cutting
  • Use our imagination through play
  • The class had great fun and showed fantastic teamwork and creativity. We are excited to continue observing how our gardens change over time!
