Diversity and Celebration Month in St. Michael's P.S

9th Mar 2026

A Vibrant Start to Diversity Month!

What a spectacular first week we’ve had at St. Michael’s P.S. as we kicked off our Diversity and Celebration Month! Our journey began with exploring the beautiful country of Bulgaria, and the school was buzzing with excitement and discovery.

Spring is in the Air: To celebrate Baba Marta Day and the arrival of spring, our pupils learned all about the meaning behind the Bulgarian flag. Things got very creative as we handmade our own Martenitsa—traditional red and white symbols of health and happiness!

Pupil-Led Learning: We are so proud of our talented pupils who took on the role of teachers this week. They visited different classrooms to share their heritage, teaching their friends how to count, name colours, and say a few helpful phrases in Bulgarian.

A Taste of Bulgaria The highlight for many was our delicious tasting session! Every pupil had the chance to try a variety of authentic Bulgarian treats. A Huge Thank You: We want to send a massive "Blagodarya" to one of our pupil's grandmother, Zinka (grandmother of Barry in P5) for her incredibly kind and generous food donation. It was the "cherry on top" of a fantastic week!

We’ve had so much fun starting our month-long celebrations. We can’t wait to see what the next few weeks of exploration of countries, traditions and friendship will bring!
