Diversity and Celebration Month- Lithuanian Week
Another Spectacular Week within our Diversity Month!
What a spectacular second week we’ve had in St. Michael’s P.S. as we continued our Diversity and Celebration Month! Our journey expanded by exploring the beautiful country of Lithuania, and the school was buzzing with excitement and discovery.
Exploring Lithuanian Heritage
Our pupils dived deep into the traditions of Lithuania this week. The classrooms were filled with creativity as the children learned about the history and symbols that make the country unique. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged in discovering a new culture.
Pupil-Led Learning
We are so proud of our talented pupils who took on the role of teachers this week. They visited different classrooms to share their heritage, teaching their friends how to count, name colours, and say a few helpful phrases in Lithuanian.
A Taste of Lithuania
The absolute highlight of the week was our delicious tasting session! Our pupils had the wonderful opportunity to sample a variety of authentic Lithuanian flavours, bringing the culture to life through food.
We want to extend a heartfelt "A?i?" to those who helped making this experience even more special:
- Sandra (mum of our past pupil, Aiste, in Gildernews): We are so grateful for her expert guidance in suggesting traditional foods that the children would truly enjoy.
- Javita: A massive thank you for her incredible kindness in making and donating a wonderful spread of Lithuanian treats and snacks for the school to share.
Looking Ahead
These generous contributions were the "cherry on top" of a fantastic week! We’ve had a brilliant time continuing our month-long celebrations, and the spirit of curiosity in the hallways is contagious. We can’t wait to see what the coming weeks of cultural exploration, traditions, and friendship will bring to St. Michael’s P.S!
