Cumann na mBunscol Week at St Michael’s P.S. Newtownhamilton

18th Jun 2026
What a fantastic week we had celebrating all things GAA at St Michael’s P.S.!

Throughout the week, our pupils enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities including GAA coaching sessions, learning the basic skills of hurling and camogie, art competitions, a fun-filled Kahoot Quiz, and our very own 9-a-side Whole School Blitz.

A highlight of the week was welcoming special guests Ross McQuillan (Armagh Footballer) and Ciara Hill (Armagh Camogie Player).

Our pupils came prepared with brilliant questions and impressed our visitors with their curiosity and enthusiasm. They discovered lots of interesting facts about life as county players, training routines, match day experiences, and what it takes to represent Armagh at the highest level.

A special well done to Roan, Hollie, Rian, Ciara and Mia who helped lead the interviews and did an outstanding job speaking with our guests.

The week was full of fun, learning, teamwork and plenty of smiles. Activities like these show the positive impact GAA has on young people, helping to build confidence, friendships, respect, resilience and a strong sense of community.

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another and developing new skills.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make Cumann na mBunscol Week such a success. ??

The skills we learn today shape our future.
