Did you know Snapchat has features such as Snap Map, Streaks, Stories and Spotlight that many children and young people use every day? While these can be fun and social, they can also bring risks around privacy, contact from strangers, screen time, and online safety.
We’re sharing this helpful guide from Safer Schools to raise awareness of how Snapchat works and highlight important conversations to have at home.
We encourage parents and carers to:
• Talk regularly with children about how they use social media
• Review privacy settings together, including location sharing
• Discuss what is safe (and not safe) to share online
• Remind children to speak to a trusted adult if anything online worries them
